Pebble Philosophy

We create a learning experience that stimulates social, emotional, physical and intellectual development in our students.  Using games, building materials, sensory tables, art supplies, literacy centers, pretend play and science explorations, we invite children to explore the world around them and fall in love with learning. Classroom activities are also designed to promote our students’ sense of responsibility, autonomy, and positive self-concept.

Example of our DAILY CLASSROOM SCHEDULE

A consistent daily routine is important so that children have a sense of control over the events of the day and can anticipate what comes next. Each class will have a specific schedule that will consist of the following elements:

  • Toddlers have a modified schedule that ends before lunch, unless the toddler is enrolled in 5 days or Lunch Bunch.

8:45-9:00 am Arrival

Children will be checked in, wash hands and gather with their class in their designated classroom

9:00 am-12:40 pm Rotating Stations

Children will explore different stations throughout the school day, where they will work individually, in small groups or one-on-one with the teacher.

Choice Time

Children are encouraged to make independent choices and explore a variety of activity centers with opportunities for hands-on learning that allows them to grow through play and real-world experiences.  These activities may include creative art, dramatic and imaginative play, reading, manipulatives, sensory activities, the writing center and science discovery. Students have a choice of puzzles and games that enhance developmental growth, fine motor skills, and pre-reading and number awareness.

Circle Time

At circle time, teachers introduce the day’s activities, play a game, read a short story, do a graph or share experiences.

Music and Movement

Children will experience singing, dancing, movement games, instrument play and rhythm, and activities that develop gross motor skills.

Small Group Time

Children can participate in theme based small group activities where teachers focus on specific materials and specific needs of children. These small groups encourage socialization, caring friendships, self-expression and community building. This time is important for kindergarten readiness.

Outside Play

Every day children can stretch growing muscles on our outside playground or indoor gym for 30-45 minutes. This outside play promotes good health, gross motor skills development, and coordination.

Snack & Lunch Time

Children will bring a packed snack and lunch from home daily and practice meal conversation and manners.

12:40 PM-12:45 pm Pick Up Time

Pick-up will be at the student’s classroom.
