About Ministries to Students & Families

The mission of MIPC's Ministries to Students & Families is to be a touch point for 6th – 12th grade students and their families, members and non-members alike. Participants are nurtured to discover an informed and enthusiastic love of, and relationship with, Jesus Christ; and an understanding and belief in the role Christ plays in their lives, the lives of their families, and those in the world at large, so that they may enjoy and glorify God now and forever. Ministries to Students & their Families seek to be fully integrated into the congregational life of the church, actively involving students, parents, and other adults.

ROCK Staff

We are so excited for this summer and praise God for God’s faithfulness to us through parents, staff and friends.  We are in the midst of some transition this summer as we look for a new Director of Middle School Ministries, but are so grateful for the amazing people God has put in our midst to love and serve the Students and Families of Mercer Island.  

Our staff consists of: 

Lindsay Murphy

Formerly known as Harris, Lindsay is our Associate Pastor of Ministries to Students and Their Families. Lindsay has been a part of the MIPC community since 2002.  Lindsay is blessed to be working with such an amazing team this year!  Lindsay loves going on runs, coffee dates, walks and dark chocolate covered pomegranate seeds! One of Lindsay’s passions is to see our young people see themselves as children of God as they serve their community and the wider world in mission.

Nicola Davidson

Nicola is our Ministry Coordinator and also serves as Music Associate at MIPC.  Nicola has been at MIPC for three years. As our ministry coordinator, Nicola’s attention to detail keeps her team organized and moving forward. Nicola loves basketball (especially high school hoops season!), sunshine and is always up for a good dance party!  Contrary to popular belief, she is NOT Irish but indeed fiercely proud to be Scottish. 

Stephanie Boyer 

Steph B. is our Director of Middle School Ministries.  Steph has been working or volunteering at MIPC since 2004, she has brought with her so many skills for ministry with people of all ages and is particularly excited to be working with Middle School Students.  Steph loves the Fall, David Crowder Band and Christmas music. We praise God for Steph and her wonderful addition to our team.   

David Young

Dave is our intern for High School ROCK Ministries. Dave comes from the same town in Scotland as Nicola – the Scots are taking over!!!  Dave loves almost every sport there is and is always up for a game of soccer,  going to the movies or just some good old fashioned fun!!  Since moving to the USA, Dave has picked up the nickname Davey and is slowly getting used to it!

Stephenie Friesen

Steph is our intern for Middle School ROCK Ministries, she came to us from Seattle Pacific University where she recently graduated.  Steph F. loves basketball(she was a High School all-star player in Colorado), all kinds of music(she plays piano) and all things Christmas!!! Steph can be found frequenting the North End Starbucks!
