Sample Daily Classroom Schedule

A consistent daily routine is important so that children have a sense of control over the events of the day and can anticipate what comes next.

9:00-9:50 am Arrival & Choice Time

Children arrive to a classroom of choices centered around a theme or a season.  They are free to explore creative art, sensory activities, dramatic play, manipulatives, the writing center, science, puzzles or games that enhance developmental growth, small motor skills, and pre-reading and number awareness.  Children work individually, in small groups or one-on-one with the teacher.  Learning is fun as children feel encouraged and free to explore.

9:50-10:00 am Music & Movement

Singing, dancing, movement games, instrument play, and rhythm activities are a fun part of each day!

10:00-10:15 AM Circle time

The class comes to circle to introduce the day's activities, play a game, read a story, graph the morning's sign-in question or share experiences.

10:15-10:30 AM snack & story time

After children have washed hands and said grace, they share snack and conversation in a small group with a teacher.  Snack is often accompanied with a story or book.

10:30-11:00 am Small Group Time

A unique feature of our program offers children a small group theme-based time where activities can focus on specific materials, skills and developmental readiness needs of the children.

11:00-11:45 am Outside Play

Every day the children can stretch growing muscles either on the outside play structure and sandbox or in the indoor gymnasium.  A variety of large motor choices keeps bodies engaged.

11:45 AM-12:30 Pm Lunch Time

Children will bring a packed lunch from home daily and practice meal conversation and manners during lunch time.

*The classroom schedules vary based on the children's age-appropriate recess times.  Schedules are posted in the classroom for parents to see.
