'12 - '13 Class Descriptions
Two Year Olds
2 days a week
9:00 – 11:30am, Tuesday and Thursday
8 children, Two Lead teachers
These toddlers are our very youngest children and providing a secure, loving environment away from home is our first step! They will enjoy both individual play as well as daily opportunities to interact with peers and practice sharing. A variety of materials such as puppets, books, painting, and large motor games will engage their senses and help build vocabulary. A great way to start school!
Child must be born between December 1, 2008 and August 1, 2009. These children do not need to be toilet-trained.
Three Year Olds
2 days or 3 days a week
8:45 – 11:30am, T/TH or MWF
15 children, 2 Lead Teachers or 8 children, 1 Lead Teacher
For many of our preschoolers, this is their first school experience! Our 3’s learn about friendship, sharing, and independence. They are encouraged to explore the sensory table, oodles of art and creative projects, pretend play and cooking. Learning is fun with colors, shapes, letters in their names, numbers, stories and rhymes. Large motor activities and fun with music expand growing minds and bodies.
Child must turn 3 by September 1st and must be toilet trained for our 3 day/wk program. For 2 day/wk program, children must turn 3 by December 1st and be toilet trained.
Four Year Olds
4 days a week
8:45 – 11:30am MTWF
15 children, 2 Lead Teachers
Our 4’s are ready for more challenges as they build new skills to prepare for kindergarten and show curiosity about the world around them. They are learning to cooperate, take turns in a group, solve problems, and make friends. Fours are ready for numbers, name and letter recognition, phonemic awareness, story dictation, and games with sorting and classifying. Let’s discover more with science exploration, yummy cooking projects, fun with music and movement, and block building creations. Daily chances to create, paint, and play help increase their imagination and sense of confidence.
Children must turn 4 by September 1st.
Pre-K
3 days or 5 days a week
11:30-3:15 MWF
12:30-3:30 TTH
15 children, 2 Lead Teachers
The Pre-K program is designed as a transition year between preschool and kindergarten for our older fours. With more emphasis on alphabet letters and sounds, pre-reading skills, graphing, sorting, classifying, one-to-one correspondence, and fine motor skills, our Pre-K students still have lots of opportunities to explore science, build with blocks and puzzles, paint and draw at the creation station.
In addition to our already complete program, we will be adding Enrichment Specialists each month 2-4 times. The Specialists that have been chosen for this year are: Woodworking, Yoga, Drama, Gymnastics and Tumbling, Cooking (gingerbread houses in December), Music, Plants and Nature, Picnics in the park, and Spanish.
Child must turn 5 by February 1st for 5 day Pre-K or have teacher recommendation.
PEZ (Pebble Enrichment Zone)
1 day a week
12:30 – 3:15pm, Thursdays
15 children, 2 Lead Teachers
Our unique Enrichment Zone program is for 4 day morning students or 3 day Pre-K students who want just a little bit more – all those extras you can’t always fit in! With an emphasis on science and art, our PEZ students will explore an artist and instrument of the month, explore the how and why of science experiments, and enjoy making puppet shows and cooking up a storm. This class will be multi-age and will also include a guaranteed Lunchbunch option on Thursdays for those who are interested.
Children must turn 4 by September 1st or be enrolled in half-day kindergarten. Children will still be eligible for one more guaranteed Lunchbunch day.
Lunchbunch
5 days a week
11:30am – 12:30pm
Want some extra playtime for your child or an hour for you to run errands or exercise? Our popular Lunchbunch program is an extension to the regular classroom day where children eat lunch with a small group of friends and a teacher, listen to a story, and play outside or in the gym. Children in morning classes may stay an extra hour after class and Pre-K students may come an extra hour early before class starts. Space is limited and parents may sign up daily, monthly, or yearly.
Priority is given to children three and a half years and older.
Parents provide lunch for their child.
