For the past 8 years or so, MIPC has served Sunday lunch at Plymouth on Stewart, one of our mission partners. Led by Rhinee Yeung, we have enjoyed the time spent with residents there, even meeting one or two formerly homeless folks who grew up on Mercer Island. In addition to haircuts, we have provided haircuts and manicures, which the residents seem to appreciate.
Plymouth Housing will soon begin the construction of its 14th building, “Sylvia’s Place” named for Sylvia Odom, Plymouth Congregational Church member who was instrumental in creating Plymouth Housing Group thirty four years ago.
The fifteenth project is in planning right now to serve the fastest growing number on the wait list-elderly homeless.
MIPC was invited into this ministry to help new residents begin to form community in their new building at the time, Plymouth on Stewart. We just never left! If you would like to be part of the team fixing and serving Sunday lunch, please contact Rhinee Yeung, email@example.com or Glo Ceteznik, firstname.lastname@example.org.
