Abundance Sunday
MIPC
collects donations of clothing and food items on the first Sunday of
every month then distributes them to ministries in our community.
Volunteers of all ages are needed to help collect, sort and deliver
donations. Volunteers needed to drive Abundance Sunday van to Seattle
Goodwill.

Asa Mercer Tutoring
Volunteer
once a week to tutor/mentor a middle school student at Asa Mercer
Middle School on Beacon Hill. Work one on one or in a classroom.
A
team of over 20 provide weekly or seasonal one on one tutoring support
during the school day, sending a message, “I care about you”. MIPC
provides administrative support and co-sponsors social events.

disabilities by building relationships to alleviate isolation and
enrich our churches and communities. Group and individual positions are

Plan and participate in MIPC’s annual Sunday Evening Celebration dinner

Form a relationship with a person who has a disability by joining a Circle of Friends

Carl’s Closet at Plymouth on Stewart
A volunteer-run donation driven resource for residents of Plymouth
Housing to get essential household items they may not otherwise be able
to get. Volunteers receive and display items, assemble Welcome Baskets
for new tenants, and assist tenants when they visit the “Closet.” We
need volunteers to help run this program.

with high school students and participate in an after-school literacy
program at Kimball, a feeder school to Asa Mercer Middle School. Read,
write and encourage elementary school students from 3:15-4:15 in
partnership with the ROCK and Mercer Island Hight School.

works to eliminate homelessness and stabilize homeless and very
low-income people by preserving, developing and operating safe, decent
affordable housing, and by providing opportunities for homeless and
very low income people to improve their lives. MIPC has developed a
community relationship with the residents of “Plymouth on Stewart”
apartment.

Ministries NW is a free lending library of audio books on tape for
people who are blind, visually impaired or who have other disabilities
which make it difficult to read books in print. Volunteers are the
mainstay of this ministry. Many individuals and couples give of their
time so that those who are blind, visually impaired or disabled can
rediscover the joy of reading. Would you consider giving an hour or two
a week reading print books onto tape, checking audio books in and out,
repairing and duplicating tapes, preparing audio books for mailing,
entering computer data, etc. Support this ministry by:

Give financial support

Get
the word out to all kinds of groups i.e. senior centers, churches,
business groups, fraternal organizations, and community groups.

mission of Urban Impact is to strengthen families and raise servant
leaders by building life-changing relationships that encourage good
health, quality education, economic opportunity, and a Christ-centered
faith. Volunteers are needed to prepare and serve lunches, tutor
students and/or participate in enrichment activities.

assists refugee families to become independent members in the community
rebuilding their lives in the name of Jesus Christ. Individuals,
families and groups can aid in this mission by:

Host a newly arrived refugee individual or family for a maximum of two week
-
Join
the Resettlement Team: a four month commitment to one family helping to
set up their apartment; arrange for medical, dental and social service,
enroll in schools, teach transit systems.
-
Assist teaching Home Economics and Safety classes. Subjects include health and hygiene, cooking and nutrition, and infant care.

Assist in the pick up and deliver of household furnishings to refugee families.
